PS: Musikalisch finde ich das, abgesehen vom komplett lolligen Intro, jetzt gar nicht mal sooooo schlimm (aber halt auch nicht gut), aber der Text und die putzige, voll nicht aufgesetzt wirkende "Ich bin soooo angepisst"-Attitüde Robbs ruinieren es komplett.

Finde ich jetzt das langweiligste von allen 4 Liedern. Zuviel Standard, noch mehr durcheinander als alle anderen...

Ansonsten, bei allem kompositorischen Durcheinander, dass die bei 2 Songs ihren Sound erweitern (nicht jetzt hier im 4. Song), werte ich recht positiv. Catharsis als weit auslandener Sound, mir scheints sehr vom modernen amerikanischen Radiopop beeinflusst. Und Bastards halt.

Beyond the Pale und dieses Dingens hier, sind ja eher meh...

Ich kotz im Strahl. Daran ist ja alles falsch, von der Überschätzung der Qualität des Albums über die teenagermäßige Annahme, Metal müsse in den Mainstream, bis zu dem Widerspruch auf engstem Raum in Sachen "haben wir alles schön stromlinienförmig komponiert, aber nö, Plan war da keiner bei".
Ist der Kerl die Treppe runtergefallen und hat mit dem Kopf gebremst?

Wenigstens ist er ehrlich, wenn auch widersprüchlich und damit unfreiwillig. Aber schön dass man sich in dem Punkt einig mit der Plattenfirma zu sein scheint.

Wenn Kackmusik ein Genre ist, werden MH das auf jeden Fall voranbringen.

Jeder, der schon mal ein Instrument in einer halbwegs ambitionierten Band gespielt hat weiss was es für ein Riesenquatsch ist zu behaupten die Musik sein "ohne Plan" entstanden. Und jeder halbwegs reflektierter Hörer kotzt bei so einer Phrasendrescherei ebenfalls im Strahl.

Die Frage lautet ja nicht: "Steckt ein Konzept dahinter?" Es ist ein Album - ein Projekt - natürlich wird da konzeptioniert. Die Frage lautet lediglich, ob das Motiv ein künstlerisches, ein wirtschaftliches oder irgendwas zwischendrin ist.

Aber um es mal von der anderen Seite zu betrachten: Natürlich ist Metal ein undankbares Genre, das wenig Spielraum für Kreativität lässt. Das gilt vor allem für etablierte Bands. Mit dem Erfolg geht eine Erwartungshaltung einher, die man entweder künstlerisch brechen kann (unkommerzielles Album) oder sich kalkuliert distanziert um ein anderes Publikum zu gewinnen. Machine Head trauen sich allerdings in keine Richtung wirklich weit nach vorne. Das wirkt feige, berechnend und es würde mich wundern, wenn das Konzept "alle abzuholen" in diesem Fall aufgeht.
