Hello everyone,

A few months have passed. Memories are blending with new prospects and questions about the future of the band, but most of all with realising our plans. Below you will find (partly to jog your memory, partly to reassure you we're still here) a little reminder about Riverside plans for 2016.

Very soon, on July 22nd, courtesy of Inside Out, our first ever 5.1 album will be released. A special edition of "Love, Fear and the Time Machine" has been prepared on CD + DVDA, and apart from 5.1 surround, there will also be a hi-res stereo 24 version, a bonus track "Day Session" (also in hi-res stereo 24), a videoclip to "Found" and three video trailers. You can now pre-order it on Inside Out website.

After the holidays, we're planning further two releases: an album and a book.

On October 21st , thanks to Inside Out and Mystic Production, a double album compilation of all our instrumental tracks will be released. More than a hundred minutes of music on double CD mediabook and triple LP, including, among others, new mixes of tracks from 2007/2008, bonus tracks from our latest two albums and new, previously unreleased material recorded with Piotr in January and February 2016. As you may have already noticed, the acronym "EOTS" stands for "Eye of the Soundscape".

The end of this year will see the release of our biography which we have been working on for two years. In answer to the question whether it is perhaps to early for such a publication, let us just say that had we not decided to go ahead with it, we would never have a chance to learn about some of what has been said in preparation for that biography. For now, only Polish language version has been planned. We don't know whether it will be possible to find a foreign publisher or whether there will even be a need to, but, naturally, we wouldn't mind if there was

And each of us is currently following his own music and near-music projects as well, more about it in separate posts.

After the holidays, we will reveal more about our future. Stay with us. And for the summer months, we wish you a lot of peace, rest and obviously time to listen to our music as often as you would like

Riverside - "Eye of the Soundscape" tracklist revealed!

"Eye of the Soundscape" - a complimentary instrumental release - features 13 experimental and atmospheric compositions, including tracks previously used as bonus material for the "Shrine of New Generation Slaves" and "Love, Fear and the Time Machine" albums, rarities 2007/2008 (a new mix of Rapid Eye Movement and the single Rainbow Trip) and four new compositions ("Where The River Flows", "Shine", "Sleepwalkers" and "Eye Of The Soundscape" - over 30 minutes).

The album will be available as 2CD-Mediabook, 3LP (With both CD's as bonus) and Digital Download.

Riverside machen weiter.
Als Trio mit Sessionmusikern. Es wird keinen neuen festen Gitarristen geben.
Finde ich eine gute Entscheidung.
Der ganze Text:

Dear Friends,

We'd like to thank you again for your friendship and support throughout this most tragic time for us and we'd like to officially announce that we have made a decision about our future.

We have decided that we are not going to do a casting for a new guitarist. Thus we have ceased to be a quartet and have become a trio. In this line-up we will prepare our new studio album. Both in the recording studio and on tour - if we get back to touring - we will be playing with session guitarists, who are our friends, whom we know and like. But the line-up of Riverside will be as shown in the picture.

Yes, we do realise that this is not going to be the same band. We know that for many of you the story of Riverside ends here, this year, and that "Eye of the Soundscape" might be the last Riverside album you'll buy. We know that some of you can't imagine this band without the characteristic guitar of Piotr Grudziński and for you Riverside has ceased to exist. But our story is not over yet; with a flaw, with a scar, with a wealth of new experiences, we have decided to go on.

We know stories of many bands that have survived and have been successful, in spite of all. And we want to be the living proof that giving up is not an option and that we can be an inspiration for others, too. For as long as we can, we'll continue to do our best to create and meet with you wherever the emotions are running high. Grudzień will still be with us. We are definitely not going to forget him. He's a part of our lives. But in order for the memory of him to survive, we have to continue. And we want to. So we're embarking on another journey and we are thankful to everyone who will join us.

Our plans for the nearest future?
Next year we're going to start working on a new album. Marked by the circumstances, it will probably be a return to heavier and more intense sound. But before that, in February 2017, on the anniversary of Piotr's death, we'd like to play our first gig. A very special gig which will be an exceptional event. We'd like to play it with guests, with friends, for Piotr, for us. And for you. We'd like our music to be the hero of that day, we'd like to let it speak for itself. We'll give you more details about it in the coming weeks.

The river will never be the same again but it doesn't mean it has to stop flowing.

Mariusz hat sich in den letzten Jahren ja immer mehr in den Vordergrund gedrängt, von daher kann ich auch nachvollziehen dass er jetzt nicht aufhören will. Aber sie werden mit Sicherheit anders klingen als bisher. Mal schauen.

Mal sehen, es wird nicht die einfachste Aufgabe sein Piotr musikalisch zu ersetzen. Ich lasse mich aber gerne überraschen.

Gestern in der Kantine.
Während des Intros kam die Band auf die Bühne, aber nur die drei ursprünglichen. Mariusz sprach einige Worte, das sie jetzt unvollständig seien und das die Gitarre Maciek Meller spielen wird. Und heute abend würden sie über die Geschichte von Riverside spielen.
Sie fingen mit dann mit Coda an, der Neue kam aber erst nach ca. 3 Minuten auf die Bühne. Er passt 100% hinein, wurde auch frenetisch gefeiert, grundsätzlich war von Anfang an eine super Stimmung im Saal. Was mir früher nicht aufgefallen war, wie sehr Riverside an Floyd der 70er erinnert. Vielleicht ist es aber auch die neue Ausrichtung. Schade war nur, keine einziger Song vom Debut.

Klingt gut. Schön auch, dass der Neue so gut aufgenommen wurde. Alles andere wäre auch ne ziemliche Schande gewesen, aber wissen tut man sowas ja nie.

Ich denke, Riverside haben die Situation so gut gelöst, wie es nur irgendwie möglich war.
Ich hab ganz schön Respekt davor, wie sie das machen und wie sie mit Piotrs Tod umgehen und umgegangen sind.

Ja, das war ein sehr runder Abend in Köln. Beeindruckend fand ich die Rede von Mariusz am Anfang des Abends. Das Konzert war natürlich auch bestens, keine Frage.

Ich bin mal gespannt, welche Rolle die Gitarre noch spielt (war auf dem letzten Album IMO etwas wenig) und wie gut der Neue ins Gesamtbild passt.

Zum Thema Rolle der Gitarre / des Gitarristen haben sie kürzlich folgendes geschrieben:

The release of the new album is coming closer and so we are getting many questions from you. Is Riverside still the trio from the picture or the quartet from the live shows? And what's with the new album? Are you going to have guest guitarists or no guitar at all?

We know that it is unthinkable for many of you that Riverside should exist without a guitarist. The fact that we announced in the autumn of 2016 that we had become a trio and took a series of black and white photos of us at the seaside is one thing, but there were four of us on stage during the "Towards the Blue Horizon" tour in 2017. So what's the deal with the seventh album which the band is currently working on?

Here's our answer. Riverside is a band which connects a few worlds, a few places where we have certain divisions and some established schemes. Thanks to this structure the band have been going on and, as it turned out, are capable of surviving even the worst earthquake. For live shows, we had found a soul mate in Maciej Meller. Thanks to him we can still be a quartet on stage and sound like Riverside. In the studio, we want to be consistent and the new album is created by the three of us.

Maciej will guest in a few tracks but he will be the only guest guitarist on the album. Which does not mean he will be the only guest.

What can we say about the album at this point? Only that we have never had such emotional charge on any of our previous releases. We are recording our most mature and emotional album in the whole career. It will be intense, dark and very manly. Every minute of it will make it clear that we have suffered a tragedy, that we are now a different band, but also that we are survivors and, with our heads held high, we're proud to be Riverside. We are also aware that we're creating something big, something incredibly important, something that will be remembered for years. Will we succeed? That remains to be seen.

We'd like to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to all of you who believe in us, who have remained with us and who have joined us - thank you for your support and for being there for us. Soon, we will reveal more information and for now, we're sending Riverside greetings to all!
