Anreise - arrival: Wer aus anderen Städten wie z. B. Hamburg, Flensburg, Lübeck, Rendsburg, Schleswig oder Neumünster kommt, kann sehr gut mit der Bahn zum KIEL EXPLODE fahren. Während der Kieler Woche bietet die Bahn zusätzliche Zugverbindungen an - daher wird es möglich sein, auch noch spät nachts im stündlichen Rhythmus wieder nach Hause zu kommen. Arrival: Those who come from other cities such as Hamburg, Flensburg, Lübeck, Rendsburg, Schleswig or Neumünster may very well take the train to the KIEL EXPLODE festival. During the Kieler Week the railway company provides a lot of additional trains. Therefore it will be possible to get home even late at night, in an hourly rhythm.

BANDS - KIEL EXPLODE Festival Vol. 7 - Saturday 17.06.2017

1. DOWNFALL OF GAIA (Black Metal/Sludge - D/USA): Vor sechs Jahren waren DOWNFALL OF GAIA das letzte mal in Kiel. Einiges hat sich seitdem getan - Wechsel in Sachen Label, Besetzung und auch stiltechnisch. Musikalisch sind DOWNFALL mittlerweile bei finsterstem, aber modern klingendem Black Metal angekommen der irgendwo auch Einflüsse von NEUROSIS und Co. verströmt. Das aktuelle Album lautet "Atrophy" ... und ist ein gewaltiges Werk. 2011 was the last time when DOWNFALL OF GAIA played a show in Kiel - so it's about time they come back. And that with a new album called "Atrophy", which is a great blend of gloomy but modern sounding black metal with influences of NEUROSIS and others. https://downfallofgaia.bandcamp.com/

2. COKE BUST (HC/Punk - USA): Die meisten Songs von COKE BUST kratzen gerade mal an der 60 Sekundengrenze - dann ist meistens auch Schluss. Megaschneller Straight Edge HC/Punk aus Washington D.C. der gerade live die Bühne abreißt. DC straight edge HC, ultra fast and thrashy - that's what COKE BUST stands for since their start in 2006. 3. WODE (Black Metal - UK): In unseren Augen vielleicht das beste Post Black Metal Album des letzten Jahres - das selbst betitelte Debuet Album von WODE aus Glasgow. Sehr eingängiger Black Metal mit großartigen Riffs, reduziert auf die wesentlichen Dinge. Schnell, rasant, melodisch, ansonsten ohne jeglichen technischen Schnickschnack. WODE's self titled debuet album is probably the best post black metal release from the last year. 4. RADARE (Post Rock/Jazz - D): Eine ganz andere Richtung schlagen RADARE ein - ruhiger, doomiger Post Rock/Jazz der verdammt hart an den Soundtrack von 'Twin Peaks" und BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE erinnert. Ob es nun um die Instrumentierung oder das Songwriting geht, RADARE (Wiesbaden & Leipzig) sind trotzt der Vergleiche immer unkonventionell und absolut eigenständig. A band which has choosed a totally different path is RADARE - quiet and melancholic post rock/jazz which sounds a lot like bands such as BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE or the 'Twin Peaks' soundtrack. On the other hand, this brilliant band from Wiesbaden & Leipzig stays totally original, whether it is the instrumentation or the complex songwriting. 5. SEM HASTRO (HC/Punk - US/Brazil): Im Gepäck mit COKE BUST sind SEM HASTRO unterwegs, die räudigen HC/Punk der alten Schule spielen. Die Band setzt sich zusammen aus Leuten von SICK FIX, COKE BUST, dem brasilianischen Sänger und klingen in etwa so wie frühe LOS CRUDOS, bloß mit mehr Punkfaktor. Catchy, stomping and very energetic HC punk with folks from Brazil and from bands such as COKE BUST and SICK FIX. 6. LENTIC WATERS (Screamo-HC- D): Das Konzert von LENTIC WATERS wird eine der letzten Gelegenheiten werden diese Band noch mal im Norden live zu sehen, da aus familiären Gründen pausiert wird und auch was Neues gestartet werden soll. Musikalisch sind LENTIC WATERS gar nicht so leicht einzuordnen - irgendwie das Beste aus metalllischem Screamo-HC, Punk, 90s emo und dazu kommen blast beats und minimale Black Metal Einflüssen. Live immer gut, meistens genial. Also - last chance ... für wie lange auch immer. This show will be one of the last opportunities to see LENTIC WATERS live on stage. Due to family reasons and because of plans for a new band, they will pause for a longer period of time. Stylistically, LENTIC WATERS play heavy metallic screamo-HC, with elements of punk, 90s emo and a bit of black metal. Very atmospheric music and live on stage, always good but mostly ingenious. 7. RESPIRE (Screamo/Post Rock - Canada): Ein etwas kürzeres Set werden RESPIRE aus Kanada spielen. Die Band aus Ontario fabriziert eine Mischung aus Screamo, Black Metal, Post Rock und das Ganze wird unterlegt mit Trompeten-, Saxofon- und Glockenspielklängen. Klingt strange? Nun - besser "Gravity and Grace" hören und merken, das geht. Und zwar sehr gut. A bit of a shorter set is what we will get from the Canadians of RESPIRE. A great band form Ontario, playing a mix made out of screamo, post rock, black metal and all that in combination with trumpet, saxofon and lovely chime sounds. 8. THE FIFTH ALLIANCE (Sludge/Doom - The Netherlands): Aus dem niederländischen Breda kommen THE FIFTH ALLIANCE, die seit 2006 unterwegs sind und eine Mischung aus düsterem HC, Sludge, Doom und Black Metal spielen und zudem mit einer sehr guten Sängerin gesegnet sind. Wer auf RED APOLLO und ähnliche Bands steht, ist hier genau richtig! TFA is an exceptionally good band from the Netherlands, which combines influences from dark HC, doom, sludge and black metal in combination with a powerful vocalist. Around since more than 10 years it's yet possible that TFA are more known in the Dutch region, but this will hopefully change. Their last album ("Death Poems") contains - hands down - killer tracks such as the fantastic "Your Abyss". So ... you don't wanna miss this one! https://thefifthalliance.bandcamp.com/

9. ARCHIVIST (Post Metal - UK/D/Ö): Mit Leuten von FALL OF EFRAFA. LIGHT BEARER und Anna von THURM - atmosphärischer Metal der Einflüsse aus Post Rock, Black Metal, Sludge/Doom und vor allem den beiden erst genannten Bands in sich vereint. Dabei sind die einzelnen Songs des gleichnamigen Debuetalbums (2015) immer bis zum Anschlag dynamisch und episch, ganz so wie wir das von den Vorgängerbands kennen. 2017 wird es zudem ein neues Album geben...”Construct”! ARCHIVIST is, as they say about themselves, an atmospheric metal band. The band members played music in acts like FALL OF EFRAFA, LIGHT BEARER or currently THURM and the music can be described as an mixture of heavy post rock, black metal and sludge/doom. If you do not know their debuet album from 2015 - check this one out, because it's amazing and full of epic songs which are maximum dynamic.
